Within a 48-hour period, the NJ Legislature passed a law denying public employees the right to negotiate many conditions of their working lives and the NY Legislature passed a law allowing an oppressed minority the basic Human right to marry. Clearly, the traditional NY attitude of condescension toward NJ is correct after all.

ETA: The NYT has a fascinating story on what it took to get NY's marriage equality bill passed. I recommend it to anyone interested in what our Republic has become.

There are going to be tiny islands of sanity here and there throughout the US, surrounded by great swaths of fucktards. Over time, sane people will gravitate to the sane places, and the fucktards will (eventually) bemoan the decline of their swaths of space. I will not mourn with them.
