You came and you gave without taking.
Last night Judi and I went to see Barry Manilow at Madison Square Garden. Take it from me, you haven't lived until you've heard as-many-thousand-as-MSG-will-hold people singing "Mandy" in unison. If it didn't quite reach the religious heights of Bruce at the Meadowlands, it was still very spiffy and waaaay more fun than one should have on a Thursday night. And my compliments to his orthopedic surgeon. He was moving much better than when we saw him in Las Vegas back in August.
I, of course, was little geek girl when we first went in, looking around at the banners hanging from the ceiling, specifically looking for the 1994 Stanley Cup Champions banner. :) I was surprised to see that the Rangers have only retired four numbers in their history – Messier, Gilbert, Richter, and Giacomin. The Nicks, on the other hand, have retired so many (including Reed and Ewing) that I'm surprised they aren't reduced to using irrational numbers yet.
Our seats were quite good, better than I had thought. In fact, as Judi pointed out, we were sitting on the ice! I was so excited I called my father to tell him. His reaction made it abundantly clear where my hockey geek genes come from. ;)
I can't think of a better way to start off a new semester.
